The National Telecommunications Office was created following the promulgation of Law No. 36 of 17 April 1995. The Office then changed its legal status, under Decree No. 30 of 5 April 2004, to become a public limited company. called "Tunisie Telecom". In July 2006, the capital of Tunisie Telecom was opened up to 35% in favor of the TeCom-DIG Emirati consortium. This transaction aims to improve the profitability of Tunisie Telecom and enable it to become one of the major international operators.
