MTNL was set up on 1st April, 1986 by the Government of India to upgrade the quality of telecom services, expand the telecom network, and introduce new services and to raise revenue for telecom development needs of Indias key metros Delhi,the political capital and Mumbai, the financial capital of India. In Mumbai, we started our journey in 1882, in pre-independence era, as Bombay Telephone. We have come a long way since then. We change the way Bombay, now Mumbai communicates. We have always been in forefront in introducing new services: be it landline with crystal clear voice or high speed broadband through ADSL. While other operators were charging exorbitant price, we made mobile communication affordable. We were the first operator to launch 3G Mobile service in India and Mumbai as well. We were the pioneer in bringing VoIP and IPTV services. In the financial capital, most of the corporate of India Inc, have chosen us as the preferred telecom service provider. We are the preferred telecom provider of more than 45 lakh Mumbaikars, for their telecommunication needs.
