Founded in 1972, the company has a key role in the implementation of the country's federal broadband plan, being in charge of the infrastructure that supports the operators' broadband offers. Telebras also built the 15,000km fiber optic network used for the HD transmission of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which connected the 12 host city stadiums with the international media center in Rio de Janeiro.
